Five research projects receive funding from Research Grants Council

Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) has been successful in obtaining HK$2.68 million funding for five research projects under the Research Grants Council (RGC)’s 2018/2019 Competitive Research Funding Schemes (CRFS) for the Local Self-financing Degree Sector.

Professor CHAN Ching, Selina, Director of University Research, said among the five successful research proposals (see table below), three are funded under the Faculty Development Scheme (FDS) and two are under the Inter-Institutional Development Scheme (IIDS)

Among the three FDS proposals, one is in the “Humanities and Social Sciences” subject area, the other two are in “Business Studies” and “Engineering” respectively.

To further enhance the research culture in the University and to encourage more academic staff to conduct pure and applied research, the Research Office has organized a series of seminars for staff in this academic year. For instance, a seminar to introduce the RGC’s CRFS cum sharing by a successful grant holder will be held on 4 October 2018. Another seminar on “Impact Case Studies” to be conducted by an invited speaker has been scheduled for 15 November 2018. The latter is targeted at colleagues doing applied research.
