The Research Grants Council visits Shue Yan University

The Research Grants Council (RGC) visited Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) on April 25, 2018, to familiarize themselves with the research activities and research strategies of HKSYU and to monitor the implementation of the on-going research projects funded by the RGC.

The Competitive Research Funding Schemes for the Local Self-financing Degree Sector, run by RGC, was launched in 2013. In the past four rounds of applications, HKSYU had been successful in obtaining funding for 29 research projects, including two Inter-Institutional Development Scheme (IIDS), two Institutional Development Scheme (IDS) and 25 Faculty Development Scheme (FDS) projects. The total research funding awarded to HKSYU adds up to HK$ 28,250,720. (see table below)

The RGC visiting team comprised 10 members and two secretariat staff of RGC.

Poster presentations and PowerPoint presentation were given to the visiting team by research projects’ principal investigators. Projects’ investigators and their research assistants also participated.

Senior management and selected department heads of HKSYU attending the meeting with the visiting team included Dr. HU Fai Chung, Deputy President, Professor Catherine SUN, Academic Vice President, Professor Selina CHAN, Director of University Research, Professor David W. K. YEUNG, Head of Department of Business Administration, Professor LEUNG Tin Wai, Head of Department of Journalism and Communication, and Professor CHEUNG Yuet-wah, Head of Department of Sociology.
