Nine research projects receive funding from Research Grants Council

Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) has been successful in obtaining HK$5.73 million funding for nine research projects under the Research Grants Council’s 2017/18 Competitive Research Funding Schemes for the Local Self-financing Degree Sector.

Professor CHAN Ching, Selina, Director of University Research, said among the nine successful research proposals (see table below), eight are funded under the Faculty Development Scheme (FDS) and one is under the Inter-Institutional Development Scheme (IIDS) of Competitive Research Funding Schemes.

Professor CHAN said the success rate of FDS has risen to 40% from 27% in 2016/17. Among the eight proposals, five are in the “Humanities and Social Sciences” subject area, the other three are in “Business Studies”, “Engineering” and “Biology & Medicine” respectively.

Professor CHAN believes that these successful research projects can further enhance the research culture in the University.
