31-12-2014

Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) will offer the Master of Social Sciences in Psychology (MSSPsy) in January 2016. MSSPsy is the upgrade version of current Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology programme.

Professor Catherine Sun, Head of Department of Counselling & Psychology of HKSYU, said most of the Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology programmes offered by other institutions have been upgraded to Master programme, and HKSYU offers the MSSPsy in order to enhance the competitiveness of Shue Yan’s graduates.

The programme sets out to provide an education for students who are holders of Bachelor’s degrees with Honours in fields other than psychology who intend to pursue Master’s level education in psychology. The programme is also suitable for graduate members of the workforce who are interested in upgrading their abilities and credentials for the purpose of enhancing job performance.

Students need to obtain a total 39 credits to graduate. The programme provides postgraduate training in all recognized areas in psychology, and in particular, in one of the four areas of applied professional psychology (i.e. Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and Educational Psychology).  Students can base on their interests to select a specific field to study.
