HKSYU and BLCU to offer a joint Ph.D. programme in Chinese Linguistic and Literature

Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) will offer a Ph.D. programme in Chinese Linguistics and Literature in collaboration with Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) in the near future.

HKSYU and BLCU signed an outline agreement to offer the Ph.D. programme on October 19, 2013, in the Exhibition Hall of the Main Academic Building of HKSYU.

HKSYU Administrative Vice-President, Dr. Fai-chung Hu and Professor Cui Xiliang, President of BLCU, signed the agreement on behalf of the two universities.

The study period of the Ph.D. programme is four year part-time. Teaching will be provided by professors from both universities, with two thirds of teaching undertaken by BLCU professors and the remaining one third provided by professors from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature of HKSYU. HKSYU is responsible for the administration of the programme.

The Doctorate will be conferred by BLCU, and the degree certificate will indicate that the programme is offered jointly by BLCU and HKSYU.

The two universities will finalise details of the programme in the next few months.
